Business Park rewarded for commuting plan.

9 Sep 2005

Cambourne Business Park has received a Travel Plan Award for it’s Green Travel policy. The first Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Workplace Travel Plan Awards were presented last night (Tuesday 6th September) by Steve Riches, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Breakfast presenter, at a ceremony at the Government Office for the East of England in Shaftesbury Road, Cambridge.
Lesley Scobell, Green Travel Plan Co-ordinator at the Business Park, said, “ We are very pleased that our hard work in encouraging healthy and more environmentally friendly commuting has been recognised.
" I know from calls to my breakfast show that travelling to work can get many people hot under the collar,” said Steve Riches last night. “Anything that can help alleviate the stress of getting to work has to be applauded. I was delighted to be able to present the awards to these employers who are taking such big steps to provide more choice to their commuting staff.”
"These travel plans have very real benefits for the employers, with more productive staff, and less pressure on the car park. And their staff are improving their physical and mental health along with the health of their bank balances!” said Mark Webb, Development Manager at the Travel for Work Partnership, which made the awards in collaboration with the Travelchoice team at Peterborough City Council.
The awards event was part of Exercise Your Choice week, organised by Cambridgeshire County Council, which runs from 5 to 12 September.
