Local school children help Wildlife Artist

12 Jun 2002

Schoolchildren from Monkfield Primary School were invited to work alongside wildlife artist Rodney Ingram as he sketched pond life and wild flowers, which will form an interpretation panel he is preparing for a natural pond at Cambourne Business Park.

The pond, which was first created in the early 1800s to service the now defunct Caxton Common Farm, is part of a series of environmental projects which are being put in place by Catherine Bickmore, an environmentalist retained by Development Securities plc, developers of Cambourne Business Park.

Mr Ingram, whose clients include the RSPB, is producing a panel to be placed alongside the pond so that children and business park occupiers can easily identify the pond life and wild flowers that surround the area.

Lesley Scobell, Marketing Co-ordinator at Cambourne Business Park said: “As the mother of two schoolgirls I know how important it is to provide such learning facilities at an early age in a child's education. We have work closely with Monkfield Primary School on this project and will be providing a dipping platform as well as developing a technology trail for use by local schools. I hope the tenants on the Business Park will also take advantage of these environmental amenities.”
