South Cambridgeshire District Council wins the 10k Business Park Challenge!
6 April 2009
In a hard-fought contest, a team from South Cambridgeshire District Council became the worthy winners of the Cambourne Business Park Challenge at the Cambridge Cambourne 10K Run on April 5. The team completed the run in an average time of 44 minutes to win the coveted Cambourne Business Park trophy. “South Cambs secured the fastest time out of the ten occupier teams who took up the challenge. They gave a fantastic performance and I’m sure enjoyed themselves too,” comments Lesley Scobell, Marketing Co-ordinator at Cambourne Business Park. Almost nine hundred runners took to the streets of Cambourne on April 5. The 2009 event was the first Cambridge Cambourne 10K Run, but, after such a successful day, the organisers now want the event to become a key event in the national running calendar. “The Cambourne 10K was great fun, but also a useful way to promote exercise in the community. I look forward to seeing a lot more people bitten by the running ‘bug’ in training around the Business Park,” says Lesley.
The main event sponsors included Nike, South Cambridgeshire District Council, the running store Advance Performance, Living Sport and Cambourne Business Park. Local community groups and businesses including the Parish Council, Morrison’s and the Cambridge Belfry Hotel, also supported the event through providing marshals, staffing the drinks station or through sponsorship - as well as taking part.
